Certification Refund Policy
What happens to your certification fee if your application does not proceed.
Contents
When the fee is charged
Applying and paying are a single act. Your application is not lodged, and assessment does not begin, until the certification fee has been received. The exact amount you owe is shown to you on the review step before you are sent to the payment gateway, and that amount is fixed at the moment you submit: a later change to our published fees does not change what you pay.
When you get a refund
A refund is due where the application does not proceed for a reason that is not misconduct on your part. That includes:
- we find that you do not meet the entry requirements for the certification you applied for;
- your supporting documents are incomplete and are not completed within the period we give you to supply them;
- we withdraw or suspend the certification before you have been assessed;
- we are unable to schedule your assessment within a reasonable period and you choose not to wait;
- you withdraw your application before assessment begins.
How much is returned
Where a refund is due, it is calculated on the amount you actually paid, including any discount that applied at the time. An administration fee is retained to cover the cost of processing and checking the application.
The percentage above is applied to the sum actually charged to you, not to the list price. If you paid a discounted fee, the refund is a percentage of the discounted amount.
The exact administration percentage for the certification you are applying for is also stated on that certification's own page before you begin.
When no refund is due
- You have been assessed. Once you have sat an examination, submitted a case study or portfolio for marking, or attended a panel interview, the fee has been used for what it was paid for. Failing an assessment is not grounds for a refund.
- You did not attend. Missing a scheduled assessment without telling us in advance is treated as having been assessed.
- False statements or documents. Where an application is rejected, or a certificate withdrawn, because information or documents you supplied were false, no refund is made. See the Code of Conduct.
- Breach of the Code of Conduct during assessment. Including obtaining examination content in advance, or submitting work that is not your own.
How to request a refund
Where we decide you do not qualify or your documents are incomplete, we start the refund ourselves and tell you by email. You do not need to ask.
To withdraw an application yourself, email support@trusted.rw from the address on your application, quoting your application reference. We acknowledge refund requests within 5 working days.
How the money is returned
Refunds are returned by the same method the payment was made, to the same account or number that paid. We cannot send a refund to a different person or a different account.
Once a refund is issued, the time it takes to reach you depends on your payment provider. Any charge your own provider makes to receive the money is outside our control and is not part of the administration fee described above.
This policy sits alongside the Certification Terms, which govern the application as a whole, and the wider Trusted Rw payment and refund policy for other Trusted Rw services.
