Certification Terms
The agreement between you and Trusted Rw when you apply for a certification, sit its assessment, and hold the credential afterwards.
Contents
What you are agreeing to
These terms apply when you submit an application through learn.trusted.rw. Together with the Service Professional Code of Conduct and the Certification Refund Policy, they are the whole of the agreement covering your certification.
Trusted Rw is the certifying body. It sets the requirements, assesses candidates against them, awards the certificate and maintains the public register on which it can be verified.
Eligibility and entry routes
Each certification publishes its own entry requirements, including the minimum education, the years of experience required, and whether holding a lower certification opens an alternative route. You choose the route you are applying under at the first step of the application.
Confirming that you meet a requirement is not the same as our accepting that you do. We check the evidence you provide, and we may reject an application where the evidence does not support the route claimed.
Documents you upload
You must upload the documents each certification lists, which will include proof of identity and proof of education, and may include a curriculum vitae and employer verification. Documents must be genuine, legible and relate to you.
Uploaded documents are stored encrypted and are used only to assess your application and to maintain the register. They are not published, and they are never shown on the public verification page.
Contacting your employers and referees
When you apply you consent to us contacting the employers and referees you have named, for the sole purpose of verifying the experience and the references in your application.
We contact only the people you have named. We do not approach your current employer beyond the specific contact you supplied, and we do not disclose the content of your application to a referee beyond what is necessary to confirm the point being checked. You may withdraw this consent by writing to us, but we may then be unable to verify the route you applied under, in which case the application cannot proceed.
The fee
The certification fee is payable at the point of application. The amount you owe is shown before you are sent to the payment gateway, and is fixed at the moment you submit, so a later change to our published fees does not change what you pay. Where a discount is running, the discounted amount is the amount charged.
Payment is taken by our payment provider. We do not receive or store your card or mobile money credentials.
Assessment
Each certification publishes what its assessment consists of, which may include a written examination with a stated pass mark, an observed scenario, a case study, a portfolio, or a panel interview.
- We will give you reasonable notice of the date, place and format of any assessment.
- Tell us in advance if you need a reasonable adjustment for a disability or health condition, and we will accommodate it where we can do so without compromising the assessment.
- Results are issued to the email address on your application.
- If you fail, you may re-sit. A re-sit is a new assessment and a further fee applies.
- You may appeal the conduct of an assessment within 30 days by writing to support@trusted.rw. An appeal reviews whether the assessment was carried out properly; it is not a re-marking of your answers on request.
Award, validity and recertification
On passing, you are awarded a certificate carrying a unique number that anyone can check on the verification page. The verification page shows the holder, the level, the status and the relevant dates, and nothing else.
Each certification states how long its certificate remains valid and how many hours of continuing professional development are required per cycle to maintain it. It is your responsibility to complete and evidence that development before your certificate expires.
The certificate certifies you personally. It does not transfer to a colleague, a team or an employer, and it does not certify the organisation you work for.
Suspension and withdrawal
A certificate may be suspended or withdrawn where the Code of Conduct has been breached, where it was obtained using false statements or documents, or where a recertification requirement has not been met. The process, the possible outcomes and your right of appeal are set out in the Code of Conduct.
Where a certificate is withdrawn, the public verification page shows it as no longer valid. We do not publish the reason.
Your personal data
We process your personal data to assess your application, to award and maintain your certificate, and to operate the public register. Our handling of personal data, your rights over it, and how to exercise them are set out in the Trusted Rw Privacy Policy.
The public verification page is deliberately minimal: it discloses your name, the level held, the status and the dates. It never discloses your contact details, your identity documents, your employer or your assessment results.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The version number and effective date at the top of this page change when we do. An application is governed by the version in force when it was submitted, so a change made afterwards does not alter the terms you accepted.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Rwanda.
